Fri, 20 November 2009 ![]() The book of Acts, like the gospel of Luke, is written to someone referred to as: “most excellent Theophilus.” There are many differing explanations of who this may be—one common suggestion is that he is some sort of Roman official. This feature is a conversation with John Mauck, a lawyer who believes Theophilus was a legal official in Rome, which leads him to conclude that the book of Acts is actually a legal brief. Paul on Trial is published by Thomas Nelson and available through Amazon.com. Comments[0] |

Mon, 16 November 2009 ![]() James chapter 1 encourages us as Christians to look differently at the trials of life: “knowing that the testing of our faith produces patience.” Almost sounds easy doesn’t it? It’s one thing to say it when life is going well, but a different thing all together when it comes time to live it out. I recently spoke with Beth Chilcoat about her family’s experience with ALS and how they learned first hand the truth of James 1. Beth is the editor of a new book entitled: Nobody Tells a Dying Guy to Shut Up, excerpts from her husband’s on-line journal which he kept throughout the disease. Thu, 12 November 2009 ![]() Atheists claim that God doesn’t exist. Many, like Richard Dawkins attempt to use science to support their claim. In response, many Christians have pointed to creation as evidence for design, which infers a designer or ultimate cause. This in turns often leads the Atheist to ask: “So who made God?” It’s a challenging question; Dr. Edgar Andrews helps us answer this question in this extended version of today's feature. Who Made God is published by EP Books and is available through their website or through CBD. For more information about Dr. Andrews, visit his website. Comments[0] |
Wed, 11 November 2009 ![]() In John chapter 17 Christ prays for his disciples and the future church that “they would be one as He and the Father are one.” The Apostle Paul often prayed that the church would be “humble and like-minded.” Unity is an important mark of a healthy church, both locally and globally. Pastor Anthony Carter of East Point Church in East Point, GA, helps us think about this issue. He has an article in the upcoming December 2009 edition Table Talk Magazine entitled: “Out of Many, One.” Comments[0] |
